January 2026

New Year, New Semester, New Classes!

January marks the start of a new semester, which means new classes, new schedules, and a chance to reset after break. It can take a few days to get back into the routine, but it’s also a good time to start strong and set goals for the rest of the year.

Winter sports are still in full swing. Basketball and Wrestling continue their seasons, with teams staying busy as they push through some of the toughest parts of their schedules. Practices and games are picking up, and the work put in now really matters later in the season.

With a fresh semester and busy weeks ahead, January is all about getting back into the groove and keeping momentum going.

I Hope You Have a Fantastic January!

Attendance

Every school day at CDHS begins the same way: a hallway hums with quiet movement, a teacher straightens a stack of papers, and a seat waits for its student. When that student walks through the door on time and ready, the day unfolds differently. They hear the explanation that makes the lesson click, share the laugh that builds a friendship, or take the step that boosts their confidence. But when they’re absent, those moments can’t be recreated. This month, we’re challenging every Black Knight to write their full story, one day, one class, one on-time arrival at a time. Showing up isn’t just about attendance; it’s an opportunity.

December 2025

‘Tis The Season For Testing

December is finally here, and even though it’s a short month, there’s a lot going on. Bowling season is starting to wrap up, and the team’s finishing strong. Basketball and Wrestling are really getting going now, with both teams heading into their December tournaments and putting in the work to get ready.

EOCs are also happening this month, from the 1st through the 18th, so everyone’s reviewing and trying to stay on top of things before break. It’s definitely a stressful time, but we’re almost at the finish line for the first semester.

And after all that, Christmas Break is coming up, which pretty much everyone is excited for. It’ll be a nice chance to chill, sleep in, and take a break from school before we come back in January.

I Hope You Have a Fantastic December!

Athletics

As we move into December, we celebrate the close of an outstanding fall sports season at Chuckey-Doak. Our teams represented the Black Knights with pride, including a historic milestone as our Lady Knights Volleyball team advanced to the TSSAA State Tournament for the first time in school history. With fall sports now wrapped up, we shift our focus to the winter season and the excitement ahead in basketball, wrestling, and the conclusion of our bowling season. We look forward to a strong month of competition and continued support from our community!

November 2025

From Fall to Finals

November is here, and it’s bringing a lot of changes around school. The fall season is wrapping up, and winter sports are getting started. Bowling, Wrestling, Girls Basketball, and Boys Basketball are all beginning their seasons, and teams are putting in the work to get off to a strong start.

In the classroom, students are starting to focus on EOCs (End of Course exams), which will be here before we know it. Teachers are reviewing and getting everyone ready to finish the semester strong.

And of course, Thanksgiving Break is coming up—a well-deserved chance to relax, recharge, and spend time with family before the push to winter break begins.

It’s a busy month, but an exciting one, too. Good luck to all the new teams starting their seasons and to everyone preparing for exams. Let’s finish the fall strong.

I Hope You Have a Fantastic November!

October 2025

After The Break, Back to Business

October kicks off with Homecoming Week, which always brings plenty of school spirit and excitement around the halls. This is followed up by Fall Break, wherein students will be out of school from the 6th through the 13th.

Sports are in full swing this month. Volleyball and Girls Soccer are moving into their tournaments, and we’re wishing them the best of luck as they compete. Golf has wrapped up after another strong season, and Cross Country is working hard as they head toward the end of their schedule. Football is still rolling through the fall, with cheerleading keeping the sidelines alive on Friday nights.

We’ve also got Testing Day this month. Seniors will have the chance to retake the ACT, and some underclassmen will be taking the ASVAB. It’s just one of many things happening in October, but an important step for students looking ahead.

I Hope You Have a Fantastic October!

September 2025

After The Break, Back to Business

We’re back from our first long weekend of the year, and September is already shaping up to be an exciting month on and off the field.

Football opened their season with a big win in their first game, bringing plenty of energy to the stands and the sidelines. Cheerleading kept the crowd fired up, reminding everyone what Friday nights are all about. The Black Knight Band added to the atmosphere with some old favorite fight songs and their new halftime show. Girls Soccer is battling through their early schedule with determination, while Volleyball is already showing great athletics and teamwork on the court. Cross Country runners are grinding through their meets, pushing for faster times and stronger finishes each week. And of course, our Golf team is aiming to build on the success of last year, working to stay consistent as their season moves towards playoffs.

As we head further into the fall, it’s a great time to support our athletes, stay focused in class, and keep the positive momentum going. Many of our clubs and other extra-curriculars will also begin this month. September is just the beginning of what’s shaping up to be a memorable year.

I Hope You Have a Fantastic September!

Attendance

At Chuckey-Doak High School, we believe that consistent attendance is one of the most effective ways parents can support their child’s success in school. Every day in class is an opportunity to learn, grow, and connect, and when students miss too many days—whether excused or unexcused—they miss valuable learning experiences. At Chuckey-Doak High School, we work closely with families to address attendance concerns early. Students with three unexcused absences enter Tier 1 support, five to nine unexcused absences move to Tier 2, and ten or more unexcused absences enter Tier 3. Chronic absenteeism—missing 10% or more of the school year, for any reason—also triggers extra support. To help keep records accurate, please remember that doctor’s notes must be submitted on the day your child returns to school.

Athletics

Fall Sports are here! Our student-athletes have been working hard all summer in the sun, preparing for an exciting year of competition. This fall, we are proud to showcase our football, golf, cross-country, girls’ soccer, and volleyball teams. Our cheerleading squad has also been putting in the work—perfecting their cheers, stunts, and spirit to energize the crowd and support our teams. We would love to see the Black Knight Nation packing the stands at all of our home games, showing great support for our athletes. Students are reminded to display the highest level of sportsmanship and school pride at every event—cheering loudly for our Black Knights, respecting all participants, and representing CDHS with excellence. See you at a game! Go Black Knights!
